Where meaning lives in the making

June Press is a boutique letterpress and event design studio rooted in the belief that handmade is the perfect invitation to slow down, feel something, and remember. Every piece that leaves here carries that belief out into the world, into someone's hands, into the start of something they'll keep with them.

Meet the Artist

I'm Zoë, and I’ve been leaving a trail of art supplies behind me for as long as I can remember.

Letterpress found me serendipitously. At 19, a piece of thick cotton paper with a pillowy impression passed through my hands while sorting mail, and I had to stop everything to figure out where it came from. That was it for me.

A fine arts degree and seven years as a graphic designer in Seattle's tech industry followed, with that small card tucked away in a box the whole time. Then serendipity struck again—a tabletop press found its way into my life at the perfect moment. 

Before long, I left the corporate world to start something of my own: June Press. Today, I work out of a home studio nestled in the foothills outside Seattle, in the loving company of my husband and our dog Renly, drawing inspiration from the mountains to the sea. The texture of an oyster shell, ferns unfurling on a forest trail—all of it finds its way into the work eventually.

Behind the name

It all started with a woman named June.

My great-grandmother. What a boisterous socialite she was, always donning the biggest lipstick-adorned smile while gathering people together, filling rooms with music and laughter and connection. I carry her with me through my middle name and through this business. 

The month also happens to be when I was born, a popular time for weddings, and is named for Juno: the Roman goddess of marriage. So all that to say, June Press didn't feel chosen—it felt destined.

When my restored antique letterpress arrived at the studio on the winter solstice of 2023 after spending much of her life at a Chicago university, I knew what I had to do: name her June. She came with history in her cast iron, and I've been making something new with her ever since.

Letterpress is already a little kinder to the planet—no electricity required. Just ink, paper, and the meditative rhythm of hand-feeding each sheet through the press. The best things really take a conscious effort, and that care extends to protecting the planet through sustainable, eco-friendly practices.
